The basketball donation event scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed due to the inclement weather. We are planning on keeping the March 14 date between 11-3 and scheduling another date to be announced. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Due to the inclement weather which has resulted in numerous game cancelations this month, GBA has decided to extend the season by one week to ensure all the playoff games in each division will be scheduled and played with proper notice.
Due to the late notice from PWCS and the logistics required to schedule referees and monitors, we have elected to CANCEL all games on Saturday, March 7th. However, we will look to schedule the High School Division Playoff games on Sunday, March 8th.
We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding the challenges we've faced with the weather this Winter and look forward to a successful end of season playoff schedule.
1) Thank you for your patience as we work through unprecedented scheduling challenges brought on by the recent inclement weather. We are working around the clock and are examining all options to enable us to end the season in the right way. Please stand by and again we appreciate your patience and understanding. Schedule updates will be provided on this site as per our normal communication processes.
2) Community Basketball Announcement: The Battlefield High School boys varsity team is playing in the 6A Northern Regional Semifinal game tonight (Wednesday March 4th) at 8pm at Robinson High School. The winner of the game punches their ticket to the VA State tournament in Richmond. Only 4 teams in 6A (largest school classification) make it to States, so this is a really big deal!!! We are calling on all Bobcat fans to please come out to the game and support the Battlefield boys basketball team. This will be a truly exciting game, and a great introduction to the younger fans on what high school basketball is all about. GO BOBCATS!!
3) Community Basketball Announcement: Final Call for Registering for the Shamrock Shootout at BHS on Saturday, March 21. The Shootout is for players 4th grade to 8th grade and 100% of the proceeds go to the school. Players also get a t-shirt and a fun day of playing basketball against some great teams. Links to register can be found on our GBA web site.
The Gainesville Basketball Association would first like to thank you for volunteering to coach our Griffin teams. Your efforts are invaluable in providing our kids with the opportunity to play basketball. This year the league would like to give back to our schools and local Boys & Girls Club. We will be collecting used basketballs from coaches who have no further use for them and donating them to all the schools in our area and to the Boys & Girls Club in Manassas. So if you have any basketballs of any size that are just taking up space in your home, please donate them so that we can help our local schools and the Boys & Girls Club of Manassas facilitate the opportunity for kids to play ball. We will have 2 collection dates. The 1st collection will be on March 7th between 11 AM – 3 PM at Gainesville Middle School. The second date will be March 14th between 11 AM – 3 PM @ Bull Run Middle School. (During the All-Star games) On behalf of the board of directors for the league, we thank you for your continued support.
